Parsha Time in Pre-K

We started learning the Parsha stories from the Torah.
One portion at a time each week just as the Rabbi reads in Shul.
These stories are valuable with lessons on personal growth, morals, and ethics.
We learn these stories through puppet shows, props, and through friends acting as part of the story.
We have a lot of fun at this time!

  • Every Friday your child will come home with a Parsha summary and questions the whole family can enjoy reading and answering together.
  • Every week on the blog you will have the option of clicking on two websites on the Parsha. One will offer you more information on  the Parsha. (Feel free to browse that site for anything else you would like to read up on any given topic and more.) The other site will offer a nice song about the Pasrah for your child. Your child may know these songs depending on the week if we learned it.
Enjoy your journey back into history along with your child and family that will bring you to the present of how we can enhance our lives for the better!!

Letter Gimmel

Nissan, our Mail Man, brought us the letter Gimmel. Gimmel's form has one little line on top, one big line coming down, and one little slanted line on the bottom.

Jackie begins with the Letter Gimmel

Giraffe in Hebrew (Giraffa) begins with the Letter Gimmel.
Interesting thing we noticed: A walking giraffa looks like Letter Gimmel. Cool!

Glidah (ice cream) begins with the Letter Gimmel. Yum!!

Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan

Celebrating the new Hebrew month Cheshvan with Morah Chani and all the Preschool Friends.

Harvest Counting

Pumpkins and apples gave us great idea!
.

Friends made little pumpkins from play dough.
We rolled a die and put real pumpkin seeds in our pumpkins
corresponding to a number of dots on a die.
One more, two more, three more, or nothing.
It was fun to play game together and then count seeds in our pumpkins.

Another day, we played number- dots memory game.
Matching numbers to a matching number of dots.
These math games will help us to learn counting and detect correct amount of counters.

Pumpkin Time

What did we learn about pumpkin?
Pumpkin can be heavy and we can't imagine them grow on the trees.
Pumpkins grow on a vine, on the ground.

Friends learned that there are seeds and hair looking strands inside of the pumpkin.

Friends held the pumpkin, they smelled the pumpkin and  even tried raw pumpkin.
Some friends liked it, some friends said that it was not their taste:)
That is ok, we all have different tastes.
What should we do with the pumpkin?
After very short discussion, friends decided to make a pumpkin pie. So...

Under Morah Bassie's supervision, friends baked and pilled the pumpkin.

Friends blended the pumpkin and

 Then Nissan added some eggs,

and then David added some sugar.

Friends took turns to mix it and added some spices.

We pour the pumpkin blend into the pie crust and put it in the oven.
The Fall Pumpkin Pie was delicious.

It's Fall. That's all.

Last week, friends discussed what changes had happened in the weather
and in nature. Friends noted that weather got colder and everyone put on a sweater.
It's fall. That's all.

Friends spy leaves on the trees change their color.
When leaves turn red and orange, and yellow.
It's fall. That's all.

Friends spy fall flowers. They are not as  big and colorful as summer flowers.
It's fall. That's all.

Friends spy little busy bee working hard on collecting nectar.
It 's fall. That's all.

Friends spy fall berries that are good for insects and
animals.
It's fall. That's all.

Coming back to school, friends spied pumpkins.
One big and one small. Thank you, Bibi, for bringing small pumpkin.
Where did this pumpkins come from?
Friends learned that fall is a time for HARVEST,
time when farmers harvest (collect) fruits and vegetables.
What could we do with pumpkins?

This week we learned

This week letter was the letter H .

There is no one's name in our class starts with this letter but there are so many words that do.

Words like horse, house, happy and heart start with the letter H.  The H says /h/.
To make the letter one needs two big lines and one little line.

Friends practiced to build letter H with lines, with playdough, and with stickers:)
